Vittles Films is A BONAFIDE documentary studio COOKING UP character-driven films and ACTIVATIONS that nourish AND REVIVE.

For over 15 years, we've SERVED up stories at the intersections of justice, HEALTH, and THE RURAL AMERICAN South.

Our films have premiered at Telluride and Full Frame, aired nationally on PBS, and reached audiences through multi-state impact campaigns and distribution on Apple TV, MUBI and other major platforms. We've been featured in The New York Times and the Hollywood Reporter once reported our “plain visual language.” A compliment no doubt.

Outside of independently produced work, we also partner with mission-aligned foundations, nonprofits, and organizations on impact-focused documentaries and popular education explainers. These partnerships are strategy-first, mapping impact dynamics, audience needs, and campaign infrastructure before production—ensuring story serves measurable outcomes, not just awareness. Writer Patti Digh got it right: "The shortest distance between two people is a story." So while the zone is flooded with empty calories and disposable content, we try to make films that hug your neck and stick to your ribs.

Stories that feed and strengthen communities, not the algorithm.

IN THE KITCHEN

D.L. ANDERSON

The principal filmmaker behind Vittles Films. A director, cinematographer, and editor with 15+ years making documentary in the American South. His features include Farmer/Veteran (PBS Independent Lens), Stay Prayed Up (Telluride, NYT Critics' Pick), and The Deciders (Full Frame), along with a deep catalog of shorts and sketches. Collectives and community building are a passion, be it enjoying sardines or co-hosting a screening series called LOOK DIFFERENT.

He came to documentary through photojournalism and still brings a reporter's instincts to every project: find the real story, earn trust, stay accountable. Years of branded work at SUPERCOLLIDER added creative strategy, motion graphics, and short-form chops—tools he now brings to justice-focused storytelling.
